The Ranch Today

Early in the history of the 1640 acres along the Owens River, the Arcularius family split the property into two parcels. The Upper Ranch consisted of the Arcularius Ranch resort which catered to fly-fishing enthusiasts. The Lower Ranch, commonly referred to as "Cow Camp", was used for both fishing and cattle grazing.

Up until 1998, the Arcularius Ranch (Upper Ranch) offered lodging and cabins to general public, after which it was converted to a private club. In 2002, the ranchwas sold to the Gottwald family from Richmond, Virginia. Currently the family has closed the 5 1/2 miles of river to public and fishing is limited to guests of owners. In December 2007, the neighboring Owens River Ranch was sold to the Gottwald family by Tim Alpers.

The Lower Ranch is owned Howard Arcularius who operates Arcularius' on the River, which offers its historic cabin for rental.
